If you’ve ever wondered why your photos don’t quite match the vision in your head, the answer often lies in that little green 'Auto' mode. While automatic settings can be convenient, they also limit your creative freedom.
Your camera ends up making all the decisions - light, focus, mood, while your ideas take a backseat.
At our Basic/Beginner Photography Workshop, we’ll help you say goodbye to Auto for good and hello to creativity!
You’ll learn how to take full control of your camera using manual settings that unlock endless possibilities. From crafting beautiful blurry backgrounds with aperture, to capturing motion with shutter speed, to finding the perfect balance of light using ISO. This workshop will give you the tools to shoot with confidence and purpose.
It’s not about having the most expensive camera. It’s about understanding how to use it. Once you do, every photo becomes a reflection of your unique eye and creative voice.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CAMERA - DON’T LET IT CONTROL YOU:
This hands-on session is designed to help you break free from ‘auto mode’ and gain confidence using the manual settings on your camera. We’ll demystify the essential functions so you can start shooting with intention and creativity.
Learn how to craft photographs you can be proud of and build a strong foundation in basic photography skills
Discover your creative potential and develop your unique eye and learn to give your images that professional “Wow Factor”
Join us for an inspiring afternoon of in-person learning in the comfortable and friendly atmosphere of Chorley Golf Club
A small group format – maximum 8 people & 2 tutors which includes a tea/coffee break

- To secure your place, payment must be made in full at the time of booking
- All clients take part in these courses/workshops/tutoring at their own risk and Nancy Lisa Barrett Photography accepts absolutely no responsibility for injury or damage done to persons or property.
- It is advisable that you have adequate insurance to cover your photographic equipment.
- It is highly recommended that all clients have their own personal Public Liability Insurance and Trip Cancellation Insurance.
- Please note that any itinerary stated on the workshop description is subject to change due to weather conditions and/or the capability of participants.
- Nancy Lisa Barrett Photography reserves the right to cancel any workshop/tutoring/course.
- In the event of a cancellation by Nancy Lisa Barrett Photography, she will either offer a total refund or a place on an alternative workshop/course.
- If the alternative workshop is cheaper, Nancy Lisa Barrett Photography will refund the difference, and if it is more expensive, you will be required to pay the balance.
- I acknowledge that I must inform Nancy Lisa Barrett Photography if I do not want my image to be taken on the day of the workshop, by her or others on the workshop.
- Regarding workshops at National Trust properties; I understand that any photographs I take must be for my personal use only. The images must not be used for commercial purposes.
